The HPVM front-end client applet is typically started by opening a Web page containing a reference to the client code using a Java-enabled World Wide Web browser. The client then begins executing in the Java Virtual Machine provided by the browser and the client's main window appears on the display. An example of the HTML code used to launch the client from a Web page is provided with the client code.
The HPVM front-end client has been tested and verified to work with Microsoft Internet Explorer and Netscape Communicator for Windows NT. Since the client is written in the Java programming language, it should also run on any Java-enabled Web browser. However due to slight differences in the Java Abstract Windowing Toolkit between platforms, the applet may not display correctly on platforms which have not been tested.
