Load Sharing Facility is a software product from Platform Computing(15) which provides distributed load sharing and batch processing to heterogeneous clusters of UNIX and Windows NT computers. LSF manages job processing by spreading the workload across the network, orchestrating all resources, regardless of the differences in hardware architecture or operating system. With LSF, batch, interactive, and parallel jobs are dynamically distributed across the network, making full use of workstations and servers, and delivering substantial improvement in overall system performance.
LSF consists of a suite of software programs. The HPVM front end makes use of the LSF Base system and the LSF Batch system only. The HPVM front end is designed to operate with version 3.2 of the Load Sharing Facility software.
