Because of the high performance offered by HPVM's Shmem Put/Get-FM interface, the Portland Group is targeting the backend of their commercial Fortran 77, Fortran 90, and High Performance Fortran (HPF) compilers to HPVM's put/get interface. This interface will provide convenient access to cluster computing performance with standard programming interfaces. This backend port is under development and expected in late 1997 (concurrent with support of the Windows NT platform).
