John Plevyak

John Plevyak is a Graduate Student in the Department of Computer Science at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign , where he has completed his preliminary examination and is currently working on his dissertation.

John's primary interests are programming languages and parallel systems. His research goal is to show that object-oriented and concurrent languages can be made efficient through interprocedural analysis and transformation. As a member of the Illinois Concert project he was the initial architect of the Concert compiler.

John received his B.A. in Computer Science from the University of California at Berkeley in 1988. After spending three years in industry he started at the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign in 1991, and joined the Concurrent Systems Architecture Group in 1992. He is a receipient of the C. W. Gear Outstanding Graduate Student Award.
