Title: Computational Plant Speaker: David S. Greenberg, Massively Parallel Computing Research Laboratory Sandia National Laboratories Abstract: Sandia is applying the lessons it learned from co-developing the ASCI-red 1.8TF system to the design of "grow your on computers". In this talk I will describe what we expect a computational plant to be able to do and what we have learned so far from a 100-node prototype. In particular, I will discuss issues of how to choose the components, how to create a scalable design, how to include RAS features, and how to create the necessary system software. I expect that discussions of how Sandia and UI can collaborate on continuing development of scalable machines will occur throughout the talk and in smaller groups during the day.
