Context-based Techniques for Data Compression

			       Abstract


Many effective compression algorithms use predictive encoding based on
context.  In this talk, we will examine several new techniques for
extracting contextual information, including partial matching, context
clustering, and model reduction.  Experiments show that these
techniques lead to compression algorithms with promising performance.
